I'm still looking into sources to hopefully find more information about this item. It is apparently a very rare collectible and I'm not finding a lot of information on it.
I would be almost sure this is silver but all of the ones I have found, which are not very many, have been a bronze composition. I did find one other sold listing on a different platform which was also silver, but they were not sure of the composition anymore than I am.
There are some scratches here and there which do not reveal anything but silver color. The weight and density seem like silver to me. The toning especially looks like silver toning.
I will update if I find more information on this, but otherwise it is for sale and please let me know if you find more information about it.
The L Bamberger & Co store is apparently a historic landmark in the retail world. The store was privately owned but was eventually bought out by Macy's according to my reading.
